Dear supporter of the Pentlands Community Space,

Here’s a bi-monthly update on PCS project.

Since we last wrote PCS has received a Building Warrant so that work can begin in earnest to re-build on this abandoned site. Some of you will have seen that the roof has been removed and much of the interior has been taken away. Further demolition is necessary so it will be a while before a new structure starts to emerge. A decision on the planning application for green energy is still awaited from the CEC Planning Department.

In the last couple of months PCS has submitted an application and been awarded £10,000 from the National Lottery Community Fund. In addition, a generous donation of £5,000 has been received from an anonymous source (you know who you are and we thank you again). The website at pentlandsspace.org has been updated to reflect some of these awards.

Regular meetings of the professional team dealing with the build itself continue on a fortnightly basis and the trustees are meeting monthly to keep the show on the road; both sets of meetings have been arranged through Zoom. And, the AGM on 27 September has been set up through Zoom too.

We’re still hoping that this building can be ready to serve the community next year.

Thank you again for your time and support.

Cliff Beevers, Chair of PCS
